MGC Designs is me, as I work alone producing a variety of unique pottery figurines, trophies and tiles, many of which have a comical theme to them.

 

Some of my pieces currently occupy a small space in a number of households across the globe, either presented as prizes at a sporting event, awarded in recognition of an achievement or purely given as gifts.

 

The majority of my work is made with earthenware clay, having been fired to a final temperature of 1150 c. Each piece is individually hand painted with under glaze colours after the initial bisque firing stage, then over glazed with a clear gloss or semi matt glaze. The majority of my pieces also have a third firing stage when  highlights of real Gold or Platinum are incorporated into the design.  As it is Gold and Platinum, it will not tarnish or need any special cleaning and will stay as bright as it was when first applied to the piece.

 

The figurines and small roundel trophies are bonded onto hard wood bases, whilst some of the larger trophies have their own individual wooden box, in an attempt to try and keep them safe  when being transported to a sporting event for presentation. The hand made tiles are either of individual designs mounted into a hand made wooden frame or form part of a larger wall mural, almost like having a 3D painting.  Individual tiles are normally around 4 to 9 inches in size (10 to 23 cms approx) but can be joined together to form a larger wall mural.

 

I haven’t got a stock list of pieces to purchase as I usually only make to order. You can see some of the pieces I have produced in my Gallery, which may give you a flavour of what I am able to produce.
